4 Formula 5000 - This will be a very popular class at the BMW Motorsport Festival. There will be two races each day for these racing giants. One of these will be a 15 lap feature race on the Sunday of both weekends for the 'MSC NZ F5000 Tasman Cup Revival Series.' These big, colourful and powerful single seater F5000 'stock-block' 5000cc V8 engined race cars will provide a great racing spectacle.

5 Pre 1978 Saloons & GTs. This race class will be divided into two separate classes - one for under 3000cc cars and one for over 3000cc cars. See below :-
- Under 3000cc cars - this class will see a combination of 1960s and 1970s under 3.0 litre Saloon & GT cars that are, in turn, compliant with appropriate Appendix K, Schedule K or very slightly modified Schedule T & C regulations. Always a popular class, expect to see some great racing from these Historic Saloons & GTs.

- Over 3000cc cars - this class will be for Pre '78 cars over 3000cc that comply with appropriate Appendix K, Schedule K or slightly modified Schedule T & C regulations. Within this class will be the very first outing for the new Historic Muscle Car group, plus other Invited cars. Expect plenty of variety and good racing from this class.

6 Pre '85 & Invited Open Saloons & GTs - this class will see racing from a wide variety of cars that are currently outside the Appendix K, Schedule K and Schedule T & C regs. Count on seeing some of the 'Allcomers' cars of the past racing with the best of Kiwi ingenuity in a class full of interesting cars.
7 Pre '78 & Invited Sports, Sports Racing & GT cars - Always an interesting class with a great range of cars, the 'Sports, Sports Racing and GT' class will provide more super racing. The big V8 cars find it difficult to keep some of the smaller and more nimble sports racing cars at bay, especially if the track gets damp.
8 Historic Formula Ford - a good sized field of historic 1970s and 1980s single seater cars will once again provide some very close racing. These popular 1600cc Ford engined cars are part of a rapidly growing class in New Zealand where drivers enjoy good close racing and great company.

This class provides opportunity for drivers of classic Sports, Saloon and GT cars to nominate a lap time and without onboard timing assistance, seek to drive each lap as closely as possible to their nominated time.
10 Super Historics - 2nd weekend only - This class will compromise single seater and sports racing cars from the 1970s to the 1990s. Often referred to as the 'wings and slicks' cars, there will be quite a range of fast cars including Formula Pacific cars from the 1970s and 1980s such as the Ralt RT4 and Swift DB4 1600cc, and 1990s Formula Holdens with the 3800cc V8 engines.
